I just got off the phone with Anthony a little bit ago. He actually was able to talk for 15 minutes, which was wonderful. He said some of it's like he expected, such as the yelling and lots of rules to try and learn, but other things are totally different. We were told no cell phones, and yet everyone else seems to have them. He could have called and talked all day if he had one, but we were following the rules, and he didn't have one to take anyway. He also could have taken any sneakers he wanted, but we had been told he needed to buy the ones there, so he took some really old ones just to get by and then had to buy an $80 pair, but if he'd had decent ones, he would have been fine. So I guess it's a new, friendlier Air Force than they let on.
The scary thing was that he received his immunizations yesterday, and he developed a very high fever and was rushed to quarantine. Another reason for me to distrust vaccines! He had IV's and all kinds of stuff. I'm blanking on what the name of the virus was, but he said it has flu-like symptoms and it's very contagious, so everyone treats him like he has the plague. There are other guys in quarantine with him, and they really only leave to go to the mess hall for meals, and they have to wear the surgical masks. He said it was nice to have a little break to digest everything that's been happening the last few days, but he also is worried about being behind after missing time with his flight because everything happens so fast. They'll check his temperature at 1500 hours tomorrow--that's 3 p.m. for all you civilians :)--and if the fever hasn't broken, he'll be back to quarantine. And if he's not better by Wednesday, he'll be recycled, which means he'll go back and start over with the first week, and he'll be gone a week later. So please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I know he just wants to get through Basic Training, plus I only have a short window in which I can still fly and go down to see him for graduation before I'm too far along. Hopefully he'll be able to recover quickly. Other than that, he's working hard, he's got a fancy new haircut (but no cool glasses yet), and he sends his love to everyone.

Zero Week Down - 6 To Go
Even though I'm not a big fan of blogs, when I started thinking about how to keep in touch with everyone once we're stationed who knows where, this seemed like the best way to do it, especially since I know there's no way I can keep up on emailing everyone. So, here goes.
Anthony left on Tuesday the 21st for Basic Training in Texas at Lackland AFB (that's one of the few acronyms I know--Air Force Base), and he's just finishing up Zero Week. They say training is 6.5 weeks, and even though the half week is practically a full week anyway, it's considered Zero Week. According to the AF website, he's had his haircut (where "cut" means "gone"), received his BCGs (nicknamed Birth Control Glasses because they're hideous), assigned to his flight (his group that he's training with, which is why I called this blog "The Corbin Flight," since our family's our own AF group), received his M-16 (I'm positive that was his favorite part), and probably been yelled at a whole lot.
Will and I (and Ethan) are doing okay. We miss Anthony a lot, but we're counting down the days. Well, Will's kind of oblivious, but sometimes he'll call down the stairs to no one, so maybe he realizes Anthony's missing. He also calls for "Nana," which we think he's been using as his name for Anthony for the last few weeks.

Will also has had a cold, and he loves blowing his nose. Most of the time it's on a Kleenex, but sometimes it's on whatever is available: socks, pieces of paper, stuffed animals, etc.
We're supposed to hear from Anthony today for his big 3 minute call home, but no word yet. It's mostly just to say he made it okay and give us his address.
I'll hopefully be able to go down to San Antonio for Anthony's graduation the first weekend in December, and then he'll be home a couple weeks later for Christmas and New Year. Luckily it falls just right that he can be here for Ethan's birth. The plan is to induce me on January 2nd, but that will also depend on when Anthony needs to be back to base. After that, he'll finish tech school, sometime in there we'll find out where we'll be stationed, and then we'll all head off to our next adventure. Just as long as we sell the house and the truck. Anyone looking? :)
Our other exciting news is that Anthony's sister Melissa and her husband Nathan had their baby last night, Gideon (and last time I heard the middle name was Nathan, but I haven't had that confirmed). Everyone's fine, but Melissa had to have a c-section at the last minute because Gideon wasn't handling the contractions well. Theresa (the head Mom Corbin) and I will probably be going out to Kansas City sometime this week to help out since it'll be a longer recovery time. I hope Will enjoys his first encounter with a brand new baby. We'll see if he can handle it!
